6 Week Mastering Your Jumping Technique for Hunter Jumper Riders

By the end of the 6-week program, riders will have:

  • established and practiced correct fundamental jumping techniques
  • understand effective jumping strategies
  • improved your precision and confidence when jumping.

With a properly designed program you can successfully and with confidence start and continue jumping and even enter a competition. This is a sample program. Your program will be tailored for you and your horse.

Week 1: Assessment and Goal-Setting

  • Rider assessment to identify areas of improvement
  • Goal-setting session to establish rider’s goals for the program
  • Introduction to exercises that will help improve position and techniques

Week 2: Understanding Jumping Basics

  • Implementing fundamental jumping techniques
  • Understanding the importance of rider position and balance when approaching jumps
  • Introduction to exercises to improve jumping position and technique

Week 3: Developing Jumping Strategies

  • Learning how to approach different types of jumps with confidence and precision
  • Developing strategies for approaching courses and individual jumps
  • Exercises to improve jumping strategies

Week 4: Advanced Jumping Techniques

  • Introduction to advanced jumping techniques such as bending lines, rollbacks, and combinations
  • Practice incorporating these techniques into jumping courses
  • Exercises to improve advanced jumping techniques

Week 5: Fine-Tuning Jumping Skills

  • Fine-tuning jumping skills to improve effectiveness and precision
  • Focusing on refining jumping techniques and rider position
  • Introduction to exercises to improve jumping skills

Week 6: Applying Jumping Techniques in Competition

  • Practicing jumping techniques in competition-like settings
  • Developing a personalized plan for ongoing practice and skill improvement
  • Celebrating the progress made and achievements gained over the course of the program
