Feeling a little unsteady in your rising trot after some time out of the saddle? Don’t worry—you’re not alone! These three simple exercises are perfect for helping you regain your balance, control, and confidence. Let’s get back on track! 💪
1️⃣ Light Seat Transitions Is your lower leg slipping out from under you? Try alternating between a light seat (2-point) and rising trot every 6-8 strides. This will help you balance over your feet and stabilize your leg position—no more heavy landings in the saddle!
2️⃣ Stand & Hover Standing up in the stirrups and lowering into a “hover” just above the saddle is amazing for building leg strength and control. Focus on engaging the muscles in the back of your legs for a more stable, balanced ride. Forget the “heels down” rule and aim for a natural, balanced position!
3️⃣ One-Handed Rising Trot Take one hand off the reins and see the difference! This exercise challenges your core stability and ensures you’re not relying on your hands for balance. Bonus: Swap reins every few strides for an extra challenge!
Try these out next time you ride and see the results for yourself! 🌟 Let me know in the comments if they helped your rising trot!
