Getting back into the saddle can be a difficult thing. It can feel awkward, particularly if you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror in your breeches!
But confidence? It’s not something you either have or don’t. It’s a skill. A muscle. And like all muscles, it gets stronger with practice even if you’re sweating through your first lesson back.
Improve you confidence with Small Wins
Perfection is not the end goal here. Aim for showing up and taking part. Celebrate the ride where you stayed calm, the transition that felt slightly better, or even the moment you showed up despite the nerves. Success is hidden in your daily routine.
Get out of your own head
That voice in your head telling you “everyone’s watching”? It’s lying. Most riders are too busy managing their own struggles to judge yours. The only opinion that matters is your horse’s and they just want you calm, fair, and consistent.
